Birthday Paradox - Redux

I had an interesting experience today that made me think straight to the birthday paradox. After spending the night at a friend’s house downtown I hopped on the Red Line at the Wilson stop to come back to Northwestern (which is decently far away). When I entered the car, I saw one of my friends from Northwestern who lives a block away from me. It still baffles me that we happened to be on the same train in the same car, but when I put it in perspective, he just happens to be one of the many people that I know so the chances of seeing someone familiar are much greater than I thought before taking this class.
