This talks about the effect the internet has on Milgram’s envelope experience. While it did not necessarily cut down the number of links between people, it did help to connect them easily and faster. Interesting enough most of the people who still refused to participate in the experiment by passing along the e-mail chose not to because they couldn’t be bothered as opposed to not being able to think of a person to send it to. This study suggests there are still on average about five links between people using the same tactics as Milgram’s experiment.
