Although there is some debate about using Facebook to track people’s habits and preferences, Facebook and similar social networking sites provide a great amount of information regarding friendships and how people interact. Specifically how networks of people form and the use of “triadic closure”. Tracking who we are friends with in conjunction with information regarding our preferences, provides us with information on how we become friends and how social networks are created in a way that would not have been possible before.
