Top Music Social Networks
I personally love music, and I think music social networks are a great way for people to branch out and discover new music, and new people who are interested in the same music. Here is a list of the top 12 best music social networking sites. My personal favorite is last.fm because it keeps awesome statistics on your played music, and actually gives very good recommendations.

Re: Top Music Social Networks
where's pandora? i haven't used it but i heard it's pretty popular.
lastfm and ilike are good in my experience. ilike tells you where concerts are in your area, lastfm not only keeps track of what you've been listening to/suggests similar songs, but also has a "neighbors" list of people who share similar music interests.

Pandora's an interesting one.
I love pandora too. For those who don't know pandora is a music service you can sign up for where you pick a song and then it will use various characteristics of the song to find songs that it thinks you might like. For instance, one of my channels is based on the song Explosive, by the string quartet Bond. Pandora will tell me that they're playing songs because it "features electronica roots, classical influences, middle eastern influences, headnodic beats, and straight drum beats". Pandora picks songs automatically based on similar characteristics - and these all need to be tagged and marked per song. Thus, it allows you to get some exposure to new music you may not have heard of before. Songs can be in multiple channels while the songs it is placed with are completely different. Thus, if you look at the network of songs, you'd see a lot of connections to various songs.
It's like we said in class - weak links are what give us a lot of our best paths. In this case, what introduces us to new music is based on characteristics, not neccessarily songs by the same artist
