Power Law and PageRank
Gopal Pandurangan, Prabhakar Raghavan, and Eli Upfal: "Using PageRank to Characterize Web Structure"
I was thinking about how there might be a relationship between the power law and PageRank during class today, and one study shows just that.
The results of this paper suggest that PageRank values on the web follow a power law. Pages 9 and 10 give some nice plots. Note that there is a threshold that is reached for pages with very low PageRank; most pages probably have at least some minimum connectivity on the Brown network (to/from other pages on the Brown family of webpages).
