Introducing Yourself
This article talks about career experts suggest having social network etiquette when it comes to friending or connecting with others on sites such as Facebook and LinkedIn. According to Kirsten Dixson, who co-authored the book "Career Distinction, Stand Out By Building Your Brand," there are six general rules to keep in mind regarding social network etiquette.
The rules offer advice such as "decide on a friend strategy for both LinkedIn and Facebook" or "if the answer is no, offer alternatives." There are, however, two rules that relate directly to what we have been talking about in class. The first relates to how you can connect to others that you ordinarily can't reach, which is "don't ignore friends, or friends of friends." The second relates to being a broker or a go-between, which is "give a heads-up when brokering connections between friends."
