death of networking sites

I read this article in USA today and I thought it was interesting as it brings up the topic of spreading a disease through a network. In the article it mentions that many networks such as Facebook are trying to avoid what has happened to email, that "90% of all email is spam." Instead of using computers to do hacking, they are now hiring real people to infiltrate these networks. In class we learned that a virus will spread throughout a network in logarithmic manner. However, by putting human intelligence on finding ways to spread "diseases" faster, I feel like if the developers of these websites do not also collaborate to prevent this form of hacking, it might spread faster.
