How to Stay on Top of Page Rank
We all know how Page Rank works now. Putting morality aside, creating numerous outside links to your site from different sources can be tedious and pricey. This article suggests a way to get people willingly do the "drudge" for you.
"You write an informational and educational article on a subject that is related to what your website is about and you post that article on various article directories. Bloggers and other website owners looking for content for their own sites visit these article directories find your article and post it on their own website complete with a link back to your website. They are happy because they are providing fresh, quality content for their visitors and you are happy because you are getting that one way link back to your website. It is a win-win for everybody."
Not very ingenious, but it might actually work.

It is really a one way link though? Because i know that a lot of pages use "Trackbacks" that will find the page that has also posted your article and notes it in the comments of your page. Does this dilute the power of this linking? Perhaps it's beneficial for both -as both are getting linked in both directions.

So maybe this ensures that you get the credit for articles you create, for those who don't actually link back?
the article states
A trackback is an acknowledgment. This acknowledgment is sent via a network signal (ping) from the originating site to the receiving site. The receptor often publishes a link back to the originator indicating its worthiness. Trackback requires both sites to be trackback-enabled in order to establish this communication. Trackback does not require the originating site to be physically linked to the receiving site.
So maybe this ensures that you get the credit for articles you create, for those who don't actually link back?

Re: How to Stay on Top of Page Rank
i think the problem here is writing an informative and educational article. if you wrote something decent in the first place it's probably not that hard to get recognized. now, a real clever method would be a way to get a crappy article written in 5 minutes high up on the page rank.

Re: How to Stay on Top of Page Rank
I think there is something to be said about page rank rewarding the best possible information. If someone is looking for an answer to a question and you have written a clear and concise answer that anyone can understand, your page will most likely have a lot of links to it. All that you must do to get a bunch of links, and thus a high page rank, is start a cascade. This can simply be done by informing a few bloggers or media which have large audiences about your content. Since you have good content, they would be happy to supply it, perhaps for a price, to their audiences and your page rank will be boosted.
