The paper above talks about a few examples on how by using a Borda count, it could lead to bad results.
In sum, the Borda count ultimately is bad for the following reasons:

"* It can fail to elect a candidate who is the first choice of a strict majority.
* It is extremely vulnerable to tactical voting.
* It treats ordinal preferences as cardinal preferences.
* It often fails to elect the Condorcet winner."

The paper goes into more detail about each point and uses specific examples.
